Loango National Park
Start Planning
Located 300 km south of Libreville on the Gabonese coast, Loango National Park is undoubtedly one of Gabon's most beautiful natural gems. Its 155,000 hectares of forests, savannahs, beaches and lagoons are populated by an abundance of exceptional wildlife, and the spectacle is guaranteed. From playful fishing to forest or beach excursions, the park offers many different ways to see it. You'll be spoilt for choice, and whatever you decide to do, the spectacle is guaranteed! At Loango National Park, we offer safaris on the lagoon or in the forest to meet hippos, buffaloes or elephants.
The park is also teeming with bushpigs, several species of monkey, duikers and reptiles. We also offer a visit to the gorillas as an extra. Although sightings are rare due to the animal's extreme discretion, the park is also home to leopards. From July to September, you can also spot whales from the beach, and leatherback turtles in December. How to get there From Libreville, reach Port-Gentil by plane (25mn) or boat (3h30), then take a 4x4 vehicle to Iguela (4h).
From Libreville, take the road via Lambaréné, Fougamou, Mandji, Ndougou and Loango. Approximate driving time: 14 hours.
"Those who visit the park may be lucky enough to witness extraordinary scenes that are unique in the world, from hippos taking a bath in the waves of the Atlantic Ocean to buffaloes and elephants basking in the sun on the beaches."
